В среду, 20 июня 2018, в 16:00, в аудитории 442 гл.(старого) корп. НГУ.

Состоится семинар с представителями National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan).
Цель их визита в НГУ:
Purpose of visit is to establish contacts and friendship for all the follow-up opportunities, such as RFBR-MoST, MoST SBRAS projects for scholars and various grants for exchange students.

"Wireless Healthcare and Life Style Applications"

Докладчик: Проф. Yen-Chieh Huang director of Graduate Institute of Photonics Technologies, NTHU Photonics Research Center

Abstract:
With the capability of low power, highly integration, and miniaturization, the ICT industry can contribute more and more to the biomedical applications. In this talk, a patient-centric environment (collaborated with National Taiwan University Hospital) will be introduced. In this wireless health system, we have finished an energy efficient prototype, energy-efficient chip, and flexible cloud for diagnostic grade mobile ECG monitoring. The prototype uses a mobile phone as a gateway to transmit the measured ECG data back to the medical cloud. Therefore, the patients are not tied to the hospital or home, and can go outside for common life. We can obtain the ECG features both on mobile phone and in the cloud (more accurate). The platform can also analyze the linear and non-linear analysis of heart rate variability in patients with multi-scale entropy. I will also introduce the applications to congestive heart failure detection with machine learning and deep learning models. With the possibilities of wearable sensing techniques, we can also extend the techniques to the life style applications or interdisciplinary collaborations. Some demos will be presented within the talk.

"Compact and efficient THz parametric generator, THz free-electron laser, and THz particle accelerator"

Докладчик: Проф. Yen-Chieh Huang, the Chairman of the Electrical Engineering Department, Institute of Photonics Technologies/Department of Electrical Engineering National Tsing-Hua University, Hsinchu 30013, Taiwan

I will first talk about efficient THz parametric generations from PPLN and lithium-niobate waveguides with emphasis on our recent invention of the so-called off-axis THz parametric oscillator (OTPO). The OTPO has led to a record high 50% pump depletion in lithium niobate for a radiation spectrum between 2-5 THz.
We have been studying the generation of MW-level transform-limited THz free electron laser by using bunched electron beam and high-quality THz seed radiation. I will update the audience our experimental progress toward that goal.
A THz accelerator is expected to reduce the size of a conventional RF accelerator by 100-1000 times. The enabling technology is high-power THz radiation source. I will present how our source technologies would lead to the realization of ultra-compact high-gradient particle accelerators in the near future.
If time allows, I will also introduce National Tsing-Hua University and talk about how we successfully industrialized quasi-phase-matched nonlinear optical materials on Taiwan.
